The first target in Assassin's Creed IV, Julien du Casse is the captain of a Spanish Galleon in port at Great Inagua. For full sync you need to stay out of combat and finish du Casse with an Air Assassination. I chose to do an Eagle Etrike, which can fulfill both requirements.
The controls have been further simplified for AC4. Basically all sprinting, free running and climbing can be done with two buttons: + . Even the climb leap maneuver at the beginning of this video is automatic. The only time you need to add is to force an unsafe jump (such as to initiate an Eagle Strike).
The range of Air Assassinations has been extended to nearly equal the height of a fatal fall. This makes Stunt Assassinations quaint because in most cases you'll be passing up an opportunity for an air in order to do a similar aerial assassination that doesn't work quite as well.
Getting back to the controls, an Eagle Strike begins with + + as usual. Catch Ledge has been simplified. You no longer hold . Instead, you just aim Edward's hands using left . In this video I held it . Air Assassinate has also been "simplified" in a way: no more target locking . Now you just look at someone and press . This can actually make some assassinations more difficult if your target is in a group or behind you. For this video I used right during the fall to aim the camera at du Casse.
Nice to see you are still making vids for this stuff stabby.
Nicely done.
With the copious amount of targets on boats, this may as well be titled "Eagle Strike of 70% of AC4 targets - Julian DuCasse as an example."
Also, I noticed you approached the boat from the front? Did you go through the village to get to the boat?
The reason I ask, is because I always go left at this mission and go through the cave which spits me out behind and to the left of the boat. I suppose I will eventually try more things on the mission (only done it 3-4 times), like silent extermination, etc.
Did you go through the village to get to the boat?
Yes. When you desync on this mission, it respawns you back at the exit from the jungle. With the number of desyncs needed to practice an Eagle Strike, I found it faster to sprint through town exposed and swim underwater to vanish.
Silent Extermination should be straightforward on this mission.
Just like with the first frontpaged AC3 video the first AC4 one is an eagle strike on the first official target. This is impressive, long time spent in air, short grasp time, target killed where he stands? He shouted something before you jumped so I wasn't sure whether he was reacting to a dead body or if the dialogue is part of the mission. So does anyone know what the highest point in the game is?

Julien du Casse circles the deck and pauses at same spots every time to say lines to his crew like, "You won't see land for months."
There weren't any dead bodies in this video but when he sees one, du Casse becomes suspicious (yellow SSI), walks over, inspects the body, and then runs to the back of the ship. After that he becomes unaware and resumes his pattern of circling.
So does anyone know what the highest point in the game is?
It's going to be hard to beat the center mast of an unbroken Man O War... I died from there jumping to a crow's nest, not even the deck.
Wow. I didn't even know that you can do Eagle Strike in AC4! I never saw one in AC3, so I assumed that you can't do it also in AC4. And you proved me wrong!

scour this website... there are lots of eagle strikes in AC3...
Annnd we have the first video of AC4! Cheers!
Excellent work, as always Stabby! =D
Very neat. Do you think it's possible to do an eagle strike from the highest point of the ship?
Do you think it's possible to do an eagle strike from the highest point of the ship?
That's where I started my search for an Eagle Strike but was unable to find anything. The masts are too far apart to jump from one to another. There are few places to Catch Ledge at deck level. The rails in front of the helm are catchable and I worked out an Eagle Strike there but it wasn't very good.
If there is an Eagle Strike from the highest point, I would guess it would involve catching the rigging from the highest mast itself. Remember that you can't Air Assassinate while hanging from a rope. Edward needs to be in a crouching position with his feet against something.
