Before I go on, yes or no answers to my questions will suffice to satisfy my curiosity.

In the marketing for this game, we constantly heard that we would have more Desmond than any other AC game before.
In the marketing for this game, we constantly heard that Ubisoft "finally made Desmond awesome."
I have played through Sequence 8. If you haven't played this far, stop reading now.
Desmond has had two missions so far totaling MAYBE 40 minutes of gameplay (Skyscraper and Stadium). Both of these missions were extremely linear, had nothing to really climb on except for what we were supposed to climb on, and had zero weapon use for Desmond. In addition, Desmond can wander around the Grand Temple, but can only explore places where he is supposed to climb, etc.
So, someone who has beaten the games, please answer my below questions with simple yeses or nos. Thank you.
1 - Will Desmond have any "free roam" missions with climbing, etc?
2 - Will Desmond ever use a weapon other than his fists?
3 - Is there more Desmond than the 4 missions for achievements? I mean, less than 2 hours of Desmond does not qualify for "more Desmond than ever before." At least not to me. In AC1, we had Desmond things to do between EVERY memory sequence. After 8 Sequences, there has been 3 things for Desmond to do. Open the temple (glorified cutscene), retrieve and place two power sources.
4 - Did Ubisoft "finally make Desmond awesome?"

Thanks in advance for satisfying my curiosity without spoilers.
In my opinion:
1: No 2: Yes 3: No 4: No
1. Desmond's missions are linear in nature, yet I expected as such. No, you can't free-roam.
2. Desmond will utilize weapons other than his fists. Something more with a bang, if you know what I mean.
3. Hell no.
4. His last mission, they made him into a badass.

1 - Will Desmond have any "free roam" missions with climbing, etc?
No, but the Stadium mission gave you a few options at certain points.
2 - Will Desmond ever use a weapon other than his fists?
Yes, 2 more weapons.

If you count assassination missions as "Desmond missions", there are 3 actual ones. Others are classic Desmond gameplay (walking forward into cutscenes and dialogue).
4 - Did Ubisoft "finally make Desmond awesome?"
YES

Spoiler: Highlight to viewAlthough he uses the hidden blade (finally!), I don't count the Apple. that's a cheap "cure all" weapon. What was the point in Desmond learning all the advanced fighting techniques with weapons etc in the Animus through AC2-ACR if he wasn't going to use any at all? He could have been better served simply taking a rock climbing class or two and learning to run an obstacle course.
Technically he uses a pistol as well. It's never told to you (due to lack of GUI) but you can press Triangle/Y to fire a pistol during the Desmond combat sections.
Still doesn't explain ANY of his need for weapons training...
Speaking of Desmond Miles, he commented on my video!
