This game looks like A.C., Fallout, and Oblivion had a child. Super excited for game play.
I have been following this game since GameInformer made it its cover for a month. I love the concept of the supernatural assassin looking for revenge and justice in that awesome steampunk setting.
Holy craptastic! I want this now!
Wow! DAMN, this looks beautiful. I'm excited for this game. I don't know about you guys but I'm excited.

I agree with that. It sounded cool then, it looks sweet now. I really hope they release a demo a few weeks in advance though, because I believe this is one of those games that is on the fence of being epic or being a disgrace of wasted potential.
Can't wait for the first actual gameplay footage... maybe at E3...
Well, as a general gaming rule, almost all Bethesda published games that were NOT made by Bethesda themselves tend to give very high expectations and turn out to be pretty much shit (e.g. WET, Brink, Hunted).
Hopefully the same won't happen with Dishonored
Okay, I'm getting this game.
I think I know what they mean at 4:37.
E3 gameplay trailer.
Saw this earlier today, looking awesome~ =D
Wonder if the girl is related to the Empress that was killed, might be her Daughter...?

That is what I was thinking. It is a pretty sweet trailer, I'm still in love with this game. I do hope it is better than Thief; just got the series on sale, but I still feel cheated... This game really could easily go either way of being great or terrible quite easily.
PS Congratz on the Member feature, Vhan.

I really want to play this game now.
Looks pretty damn f***ing awesome!
So who's the origin of this new gaming style ? I think Ubisoft inaugurated the you-can-climb-everything gameplay, but the open world concept didn't originate with AC. who thought of it first ?
Rockstar, maybe?
Open world concept is sometimes attributed to Elite in 1984, sometimes to Super Mario 64 in 1996 for doing it in 3D. And I can't believe i just used Wikipedia for a serious question... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_world
Also, love the pic sync. I believe that my Pyro is saving the world of giant inflatable unicorns and cupid-Heavies, do you?
hmp mphh mphhh mpfhh !

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS GAME.
this is getting released pretty soon, right?
like now, i think
This Friday in Europe, tomorrow in the US. Japan and Australia thursday. It's pretty screwed up.
Can't wait, though!
Got it!!! Moving through the final segments of Mission 2 (killing the High Overseer). So far, having tons of fun. Only missed one rune at this point; I got jumpy and rushed killing the High Overseer; now I don't want to risk going back for the rune that I missed.
Can't wait for tomorrow, when it releases here!
holy cow... i looked at the achievements for this game... looks to have INFINITE replay value. achievements for not killing anyone all game, or for killing them in several ways. it seems just to get the achievements you'll need to replay about 10 times...
I'm not really fan of the art style and it being in first-person. I liked Deus Ex, but that went into third person at important points.
I'm probably going to borrow it from a friend when he's done with it though.
Honestly, I hated Thief 1, 2, and 3 (got them in a Steam pack a few months ago, highly disappointed); was meh with Deus Ex (I'm on the 3rd mission, I think, haven't touched it since DX:HR came out), was OK with Deus Ex: Human Revolutions (just got to the China location the second time; haven't touched it since about 2 months post-launch).
I love Dishonored, just entering Mission 3. Still time for me to become disappointed. But the potential I have seen so far is pushing me to think I might do a second play-through. My current one is surprisingly unbloody; I mean even less than my AC stealth play-throughs. Definitely need a second run of just slaughtering everyone...
I will agree with you, Calvar, that the art style is interesting at times.
The art style is cartoony yet gorgeous. You should see the environments as you take your boat into each mission. But the characters look like they're from Team Fortress 2. Not that it's a bad thing. It makes sense with that universe. I think they were going for a realistic look at first (see the first trailer) but decided to be more creative in the end. It's still a great game. You just need the first couple of missions to get acquainted with it.
I rarely like steampunk, and when I do I think it's a lot better with out a heavily stylized art style.
And melee stealth kills look boring to me in first person.
I get what it was going for, but if it had been a little less stylized I would be more excited about it visually. Gameplay-wise it looks a little fiddly but quite fun, so I'll play it eventually.
A little Bioshock looking at first, but gameplay videos have shown me that it plays a lot better. (I know, its heresy that bioshock gameplay isn't my favorite)

HERESY!!!!! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!!!
Actually, I kind of agree. Bioshock was great mainly because of the story and environment. The gameplay was so-so.
So I finished the game today, after playing approximately 10 hours yesterday and another 10 hours today. I did a lot of exploring at first, but then the missions started to become pretty hard and I didn't. As such, the second half of the game wasn't that enjoyable to me. The first half was VERY good, and I will definitely be playing this game again.
What I didn't understand, though, was that I kept the chaos level low throughout the game, then on one mission, it just shot up to high. Unfortunately, this was the second before last mission. I ended up with the high chaos ending, which wasn't what I wanted. >.>
Also, choose your upgrades well. I got windblast for something like 5 runes halfway through the game, only to use it around 3 times. I would've been much better off with Bend Time 2.
Oh, and I played with objective markers off, occasionally turning them on if I really couldn't find the guy I was supposed to talk to (in the main hub). It was very enjoyable to roleplay that way.
And fuck river krusts!

PC Gamer apparently talked to the devs about what causes the chaos ratings: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/10/08/dishonored-how-to-get-low-chaos-no-kil...
Good too hear you overall enjoyed it. I am currently about halfway through the Bridge Level.
I'm kinda glad it's not ridiculously long. It seems like an awesome game but I'm not sure if I would ever finish it if it were 20 hours or so.

PC Gamer is doing an Extreme Approach video game diary. Currently being voted upon at the above link.
I like them all! Though I think the not-a-trace is going to be really hard in like the first 30 seconds of the first mission, since there's a guy you most likely can't slip past, especially not on very hard.
You even get an extended range out of leaning. So you can just blink around corners.
Sorry to double post, but I can post this here, right:
My sister got me Dishonored for my birthday. I'm a couple hours in now and I'm really liking it so far. Love the freedom in choosing your path.
'Oh, you wanna go here? Sure, why not. No, changed your mind? Well, there's 3 different ways to do it, make your pick. There's also another 3 less obvious approaches, if you know where to look. Ooh, you found one of them, nice job!'
instead of
'Hey, you should go this way. No, just.. just follow the arrow. No don't climb that! You can't climb that, but you can climb this though, here come climb this! Where are you going.. ugh.. that's it, you're desynchronized. Should've listened.'
Thanks to the people that recommended it here.
You're welcome.
Guys, look at this skill.
Guys, look at this skill.
I've seen videos of this dude before. He's pretty amazing.
About a month ago on Gamefaqs I mentioned using a high jump as a possible creative kill (awesome video by the way).

The bad thing about Dishonored is that you can't replay levels with all of your unlocked abilities/upgrades, so all that time unlocking everything that you wanted is deemed pointless. I stopped playing after realizing that. It would be worth buying if they kept your upgrades, but not to me.
I was thinking about that, and came up with a possible solution: Start a new game and play though collecting runes but not using them to unlock skills. Then when you go into replay you can use the runes to unlock whatever skills you want (although you won't have enough to unlock multiple skills until later missions). And since collecting/unlocking things in replay doesn't affect anything you can use this to try out different skills. It could really help with different playthroughs without having to keep making new games.
I'm considering doing this after I beat the game and if I have enough free time. Anyone think it's worth it?
