Please tell me if this was already known or considered common knowledge so I don't look like a fool. No one's posted about it yet, and no one has done anything clever with it yet, so I'm assuming it's relatively unknown.
Figured out a neat little trick with regards to AC4's Social Status Indicators and how you can use them to seriously play with the AI. I don't think SSIs worked this way in previous Assassin's Creed games, so I'm gonna be playing around with it, but I already found a neat little thing that I'm gonna try to record. If this works, it'll be my first video on my shiny new Elgato <3
None: Guard is unaware.
Yellow: Guard is suspicious.
Red: Guard knows something's going on and is making up their mind whether to investigate.
[Red with White Flash: Guard is about to walk toward your Last Known Position.]
The White Flash is normally supposed to just alert the player to the fact that the Guard is going to be coming now, but this isn't documented in any of the manuals or anywhere else. Once you really learn to read that White Flash, however, you can abuse it pretty hard.
The way you do that is in combination with Tall Grass/Brush.
Holding down [High Profile] makes Edward Unhide, and as soon as you see the Red fill up halfway and flash White, release [High Profile] and Edward will crouch into the bush again. The Guard will now check this position, and you can use this to Lure guards from much, much further away than a Whistle. If you can "target" Single Guards like this, the possibilities are absurd.
Almost done planning out the little thing I want to do

I thought I mentioned this in a post around the time the game came out? Maybe I just THOUGHT I mentioned it, but I've been using this tactic since I realized it could be used.
Has anyone else thought of clearing this Memory this way?
I have used it a couple of times to get around some guards, but I never thought of using it as a legit tactic to complete an entire mission.
I was also aware of this method, but like Gerund I also didn't consider using it as a legitimate tactic of doing missions.
It lways felt a little to cheap/gimmicky for me, but I have to admit that youmade a cool video using it. Next time I play this mission I'll try using that route
That was awesome! Never seen it before.
I'm still (really slowly) working my way through my low synch run, and I used this trick for fun during Black Bart's Gambit. It's pretty useful. Not really for my run, as you'll need to throw stealth out of the window immediately to get rid of optional objectives, but I can see it used in other playthroughs.
