The Hidden Blade was down for several hours today due to database corruption. I repaired the affected tables. It wasn't necessary to restore the database from backup so there shouldn't be any lost content.

If anyone continues to see error messages, please forward them to me.

More database errors today... I've repaired the tables but we're still seeing some minor flare-ups. There's no need to report error messages today. I will continue to monitor the situation for the next 6 hours and look for an underlying problem.

Update: The culprit appears to be faulty RAM on the database server. Dougie's lightning They will be swapping out the machine's RAM sometime today after 8pm EDT - so it may happen within the next hour. Hang in there!

The pages on this site are loading really slowly for me today, other sites seem fine, just wondered if it was connected?

Thanks to SBIzokronus for the fantastic sig!

I was seeing some of that yesterday (when we were having RAM/database errors) but today it's running smoothly.

Yeah, this puzzled me that day. I had no idea what to do, but noticed nothing was happening to my computer, so I just went on my merry way. Smile

Found it:

[Sep 17, 2010, 1:08 PM] idad Downtime

idad (www32) became unresponsive under high load and needed to be rebooted. Total downtime was approximately 15 minutes.

idad is the name of our web server. It's independent from our database server. The reboot happened just 4 minutes after your post, Joe. This was at 7:08 AM Hawaii time, so I missed the whole episode.

It happened again - database errors that would appear as fast as I could repair them. I suspected it was faulty RAM on the database server again but they said I was the only one who reported problems this time.

So we moved THB to another database server. Rob's applause I put the site in maintenance mode during the move so that we wouldn't lose any content. We're running on the new server now. I will monitor its performance throughout the day.

The initial post of each thread looks weird. Smile Lacks the standard formatting.

Hmm, you're right.

Hopefully stabby is still under the hood fixing this thing.

Okay. I fixed the forums and another problem with permissions to view maps and certain video categories. Let me know if you come across any further error messages or weird behavior.

Posts are showing up as 'new' on the forums page even after viewing them sometimes. This doesn't happen to the 'recent posts' page, however.

Could just be a temporary thing, though.
