Can you miss anything from Present Day area?
I am leaving a lot of stuff for the end of the game, I wanna know if I will miss anything if I do the same for present day stuff. Is it safe to leave it at the end?

Confirming what Joey said. The way it works is that story-wise, at a certain point in the game you lose a lot of access to the Modern Day free-roaming because of a certain story event, but at the very end you get it all back, so you can easily wait until you've cleared the Story. I'd actually do it that way because there's lots to do in Modern Day, and the atmosphere there is deliciously creepy.
Yeah when I met Shauna and Rebecca the first time, it was like Ubisoft was winking at me, saying we are still here and the modern plot is still going on.

Is there any way to invert the y-axis on the controller for modern day? I've tried the in-game options and setting the Xbox default for action games.
