One of the biggest problems, in my opinion, with the site is that getting people into chat seems to not only be rare, but also hard to do. Generally when people are online, the only way of contacting them is to send them a private message, which usually takes a good amount of time to do when simply asking to chat.
Is there any way we can have a "buzz this person to chat" or something like on Facebook? Like they get a notification or the tab button flashes *you've been invited to chat on THB* or something? I think it would be much more effective in terms of getting people into chat.
That seems ok with me.
I'm on the site loads but have never been on chat (missed the latest organised one). I'd be quite happy to have this feature to talk with other members more often and more easily. Nice idea, FLAE!
Definitely sounds like a great idea. But I've thought about implementing a chat feed in the side of the window, although those could get annoying from time to time. What you guys think?
I would love it. I'm on here a lot during the day, and sometimes at night. I think it would be a great idea.
I looked into this suggestion and came up empty.
Drupal supports Facebook-style two party chat. That would be a neat feature and a way to invite someone to the "party" chat room. I asked our web hosting service for a clarification on their chat policy. Unfortunately, even two party chat is prohibited.
The buzzing/paging concept is a primitive form of instant message. Even if Drupal has such a thing, it would probably fall under the anti-chat policy. Sorry, folks.
