This game looks better already. From what seems to be a darker tone, a return to the roots of an organisation twisting the history of another, rumors that social stealth is returning, and England, I can't wait for this. I skipped out on Origins and Odyssey, but i'm considering pre-ordering this. What are everybody's thoughts?

Too early to say, will need to see some gameplay footage.
Interviews and cinematics really don't give ya the real view of the game, as I've learned with Ubisoft.

Social Stealth is confirmed to be returning, it's no longer a rumor. Hidden Blade is back. Minimal, if any, Fantasy elements, Darby and Ashraf use the word "grounded," to refer to the game over and over again. Present Day is back, with Darby saying the form it's in this time is "something [he's] wanted to do for a long time." Years ago, Darby went on record to say that the best way he thought Ubi could do meaningful Present Day is to reuse a Location like Monteriggioni and put it in Present Day so they don't have to rebuild everything from scratch. Perhaps we'll see something of that nature.

In the meantime, I have some extra info for you all.

That all sounds good, here's hoping they deliver on it.

They've piqued my interest, looking forward to more info & gameplay footage to come out.

wait you thought origins was a step away from an organization twisting history? cuz it was kinda all about it. also the king's monologue there is pretty much just exactly what the then anglo saxon consensus was on vikings. hardly a shadowy conspiracy, just good old fashioned fear and propoganda.

I doubt this game is going to sanitize the actions of all vikings, there's a reason its set a while after those initial raids. but i think the point of the trailer is more that whatever their flaws, these were people, not cartoon villains.

anyways personally this doesn't look like a very "back to basics" game imo, but in a good way. endlessly chasing that idea hasn't generally been v good for the series.

I like the thing of not playing as a person inside the order from the start, I've decided. it's the only way you can really justify making both the order seem big and you seem disempowered at the start of the game.

you gotta be a person who's not part of the group, shunned and in low standing with it, or the person who's going to go on to create it but hasn't yet. two of those are odd to keep doing over and over, so being an outsider makes the most sense as a common (not not inevitable) starting point.

I like that we're still before the Hashashin and Templar's time, so we're still the Hidden Ones and Order of the Ancients. Assassins just sounds weird and unspecific when it isn't clearly tied to the origin, imo they should have given them a different name in AC2 while still acknowledging the origin.

And Hidden Ones just sounds cooler.

The removal of the level system and focus on customizing gear sounds interesting. that's kinda more of what I wanted from origins: after a while you don't rly need to think about your gear, in a way that makes the system seem shallow, not just unobtrusive.

I skipped Odyssey because it looked like it didn't really have many new ideas, and am retroactively glad based on what I saw of its story. (comparing its approach to twcb stuff with origins' it feels like a totally different series. sounds like they're going back to more of an origins style.)

I'll play this i bet. Flails are a usable weapon and ive always wanted to try that

the posts a bit guy

We have a new forum for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. So far this is the only topic in the forum. The release date is only a month away!

Please create new stories in this forum before/after the release and remember to use spoiler tags where appropriate.

You won't even feel the blade.
