It's a very good AC game:

Campaign is one of the best if not the best in series:
* just 2 very short tailing missions one of which you can just ignore and run straight to the checkpoint - the absolute record for the series if you don't consider AC1 which did not have tailing missions at all
* all follow the NPC parts in the campaign are quite short and also there not many of these comparing to other games
* still has AC4 problem of quite a few unskippable cutscenes
* most assassinations are very sandbox-y and if they are scripted then they are chases with obstacles which still allows some experimentation and not a bad way to do scripted stuff
* the game itself is lore heaven and although it's a very dark story and not many fans of the series would want to play asssassin turned temlar - i like that Ubi experiments with storytelling in AC games - and it's a nice bridge between AC4 and AC3
* missions are very diverse and very sandbox-y and encourage you to use your full arsenal in them

locations have great design and are interesting to explore; a lot of different side activities and this game is also more focused on stuff on the ground then on sailing than AC4 - which fans of the series may like; a lot small additions to gameplay - new and brought back from the previous games

If Ubi made this game for all platfroms so the visuals were not so downgraded from AC4 - and put it out as solo main release in autumn of 2014 and put out Unity in winter-spring of 2015 - then both games may be quite a success - and not the failure everyone seems to want to forget about - i'm not even talking about that everytime bad port comes out on PC everyone still remembers Unity and not much worse Arkham Knight

I agree that Rogue was a great game. You put it better in that last comment than I could have though.

It was definitely better than Unity and sadly many people do not even know/care that it exists because it came out at the same time.

I felt it was a perfect sendoff for the last generation of games. It brought back a lot of things including the mission-like archetypes we haven't seen in a while. If you ignore the full-sync objectives (which I don't normally) the assassination missions really deserve a lot of attention from this website. There is a lot to do in them as long as you don't care about full syncing... sadly, I don't have enough time to go back and enjoy such things. I moved on to Unity and now Syndicate. .. and I haven't even set up my 360 since I moved 6 months ago!

It's been a while since I played any AC game, but I'm considering giving Rogue a try if you guys think it's good.

No, I don't think so.

Rogue is, at its core, more Black Flag. If you enjoyed Black Flag and you've waited a solid amount of time before playing Rogue, you will also enjoy Rogue.

Check and check. It's also the only option I have of playing a (for me) new AC game without getting an expensive hardware upgrade.

Why not, if you don't mind me asking?

You can read my comments on the matter in my two rogue reviews. These were comments made right after I played it, so no guarantee if I still stand by them after playing the Unity dumpster fire and Syndicate.

Sorry, I'm not saying you should not buy it, I actually meant to say that it is not a good game, at least for me.

Not only because I don't like Templars BTW. Tongue

No, it's cool, I'm trying to see this game from all angles before deciding on buying it, so please, elaborate. What parts do you not like about it?
