Like, what? Did they really think the movie was that big of a success? I'm not even cautiously optimistic for a good adaptation. I am hopeful though. Is it possible to be hopelessly hopeful?

It's difficult, if not impossible to tell a strong Assassin's Creed story, while introducing it to complete newcomers, while keeping it canon to the games, while advancing the overarching story, all at the same time, in a single Movie.

A long-form series is exactly what Assassin's Creed needs, as a format, to hit hard and work well. This is good news, in my opinion. Assassin's Creed is not going to stop releasing transmedia or out-of-game story content, so it was bound to move forward with a TV Show eventually.

I just hope it's actually good. x_x

Assassin's Creed would work best as a series rather than a movie. I hope that it works, because it deserves a great narrative.

I am hopeful that a series allows them to tell a better story bridging modern and past than they tried in the movie.

It would be cool if they visit a different historical time and place each season.

There are a couple of upcoming book-to-miniseries adaptations that I'm looking forward to.
Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" series coming to Apple TV: https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/foundation-on-apple-tv-release-dat...
Cyberpunk action comedy "Snow Crash" coming to HBO Max: https://www.cbr.com/snow-crash-hbo-max-adaptation-dream-cyberpunk/

You won't even feel the blade.

It would be cool if they focused the Netflix series on a different artifact other than just another story about an Apple. That's one of the things that really annoyed me about the movie... even though we *know* there are many in the world, I still would have liked something else. Unless they also have now devoted themselves to finding all of them, anyway.

To be honest, I'd love for the first season to be all about the story in the past until the season finale, where it's revealed that it was all a simulation using genetic memory. That's something that would grab new viewers for a strong boost in ratings for the second season premiere. They can keep the modern character as the connection between the seasons while exploring different storylines and characters in the past. Just PLEASE don't try to pile everything on at once like the movie did. This is a story that needs to take its time.
