What do you guys think of it? I think I'll buy gen 2 (or if OS4 has multitasking.
I think it's terrible. It's too big for a portable media player. It's too expensive for an eBook reader. It's not even that good of a tablet, there are tablets that came out seven years ago that have more/better features than it.
But what's worse is people who'll buy it unquestioningly simply because it's Apple.

I agree 100%, I think it will be a flop. Tablets arn't that useful anyway, they are a sort of niche between laptops and smartphones, smartphones already do most of the stuff a tablet can do.
I'd much rather buy a netbook than an iPad. It costs almost twice as less and Windows is so much more dynamic than Mac SL anyway. In addition, the netbooks you can get are much smaller and portable than the iPad.
Then again, being an AT&T employee, I probably shouldn't advocate against buying a product the company supports, so...
iPAD WILL BE THE BEST THING EVER! GO BUY ONE!
OR TWO!
OR TWELVE!!!
I agree with you guys, the iPad is lame.
It's really nothing but a super-sized iPod Touch. The iPod Touch (and iPhone) suck for surfing the net as it is. Barely any Java support, zero Flash support, it gets webpage layouts totally wrong, it's slow, it doesn't keep a proper website cache, no quick scrolling, no searching, terrible password handling... The list goes on.
The entire premise of this device being "revolutionary" is based purely on its touch interface. They claim that it just feels natural. I'm sorry, but that's a far stretch from any definition of revolutionary I've ever known. Especially when every other aspect of the device is beaten in spades by every other netbook and notebook/laptop out there.
Touch interface isn't that great. I've had every iPhone since the very first and I'll be the first to tell you that it's nothing amazing. It still has plenty of issues doing exactly what you want it to do. Touch screen technology, while already fairly old, is still in its infancy when it comes to quality and sophistication. Apple may be leading the way, but this is like people getting excited over a television getting a small touch-button panel instead of physical buttons. Big freakin' deal. There's absolutely nothing revolutionary about this device.
Had it been the other way around, perhaps... Say the iPad had been out for three years and now they finally introduced the iPod Touch and iPhone lines, the same thing at 1/4 the size, that might be considered revolutionary. But even that would still be a stretch.

i thought the bit about debating with obama was a hoot XD...
aquaman... hehe
Hey, if you guys are patient enough, you could play AC2 discovery on your iPads soon!
I hate it. Why the hell are they producing and stretched version of iPod Touch/iPhone? I'd buy an Laptop instead of that crap.
You know what's funny, in 2012 after the iPad comes out they're gonna release the iPad mini, and right as they hit the shelves Steve Jobs will be like "Wait a minute... GOD DAMNIT!"
