so, i've recently found myself enjoying anime more and more, although i still consider myself a newbie in the field.

a few months ago i saw Azumanga daioh, a great comedic thing, and it's soo cute.
on the complete other side of the spektrum, i'm currently watching Death Note, and it is freaking epic.

but that's basically all i've seen if you don't count single episodes of kids morning anime like pokemon and sailor moon. i didn't like neither of those.
so any tips of good anime is greatly appreciated

I've never really understood the point of anime. It's like cartoons for adults, and a lot of people who watch it go completely overboard.
Then again, I know you're pretty cool, so I trust that you won't suddenly become fanatically insane if someone doesn't like Yamaha Katasuki the Shadow Ninja (pardon my Japanese name stereotyping). Big smile

I occasionally watch Anime. Mostly more mainstream stuff, though. Have heard good things about Azumanga Daioh.

Some of the Gundam series are great - my two personal favorite series are G Gundam and Gundam Wing.

Yu Yu Hakusho is another good one, as is Trigun. Full-Metal Alchemist was good, but it eventually splits from the manga it's based on; FMA: Brotherhood (what a coincidence >_>) is a second series that sticks closer to the manga.

There's the ever-present Bleach for way over the top action with some silly dialogue. Haven't really followed it all that much, so I'm not really too familiar with the story.

If you can find it, Cyborg 009 was a great series from the early 00's that aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami.

There's also a couple different Casshern series from the past few decades. I haven't watched more than a few clips from any of them, but there was a live action Casshern movie released a few years ago that I thought was really good.

Was that were the guy clicked his teeth and suddenly became extremely fast? I remember I watched some episodes but then lost track of it.

To me, Evangelion and nothing else.

Dragonball Z will forever be in my childhood memories, but I've never watched anime other than that.

My kids are into anime, especially my artist older daughter. I'll ask them for some recommendations if you like. They've enjoyed some of the ones mentioned so far, as well as Cowboy Bebop, Fooly Cooly and Toward The Terra. They were recently watching one called Mushishi and I saw a bit of it as well. The art is really beautiful and the voice acting is quite good (something you don't always find).

And of course, all the Miyazaki movies.

Actually I lied. I have seen one anime movie (no, not a hentai flick you perverts). Spirited Away. I actually quite enjoyed it, so much that I've seen it on more than one occasion.

Unfortunately I have a bad feeling that a Hentai of it does actually exist...

Red, I agree, the DBZ movie was worse than Transformers 2. Why the hell would you put Goku in high school? There was one point in the series when Gohan was in high school, but that was one of the worst times for the series. It was a huge letdown after such an awesome story arc with the Androids and Cell, and it had the best moment of the series when Goku split Cell in half with a Kamehameha wave (I stood up and yelled OH SHIT the first time I saw it).

Wow I sound like a fanboy, but hey, it's my childhood, it was awesome.

DBZ was cool, not seen it in years though, I didn't realise it was considered an anime.

It was like the first anime ever. It aired in Japan in like 1986 or something. That's how old it is.

I grew up with three (main) things when I was younger.

Cowboy Bebop - I'm a jazz musician, the influence should speak for itself. Tongue

Dave Matthews Band - I incorporate a lot of their style into my music.

Devil May Cry - I love certain badass sounding rock songs, and it's also why I love video games, and Assassin's Creed-esque games a lot.

I love anime, but I don't have much time to watch it anymore.

I don't watch anime. I'm more of a Tarantino or Scorceze guy myself (is that how you spell his name?).
However, there is ONE anime that I will NEVER FORGET in my life. My friend recommended it to me, and at first I thought it was the dumbest story idea I've ever heard in my life. It didn't involve too much sci-fi, assassins, mysteries or parkour (which the AC series coincidentally has a lot of, go figure).

But I was like "OK, I haven't seen anime in a long time, I hate the stuff, but I'll force myself to watch ALL of this."
Forcing myself lasted maybe... 2 episodes. The rest of the way I didn't have to force myself anymore.
This thing was 20 episodes long per season (If I remember correctly), with 2 seasons. But it was so amazing, it was better than many animes that were hundreds of episodes long.

I still sometimes rewatch it.
It has so much of everything pretty much.
The conflict between poor and rich.
Discrimination.
Power, greed and freedom.
Sounds corny?
Once you start watching it and you watch it to the end (which is one of the best endings I've seen, in any media and is relatively open-ended), you will realize that it's excellent.

The name of this anime?

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Or just Code Geass).
