I very much enjoyed the film The Da Vinci code, I saw it several years ago. I can't have been any older than around 13 but I loved the mood and atmosphere of it anyway. After playing through the Assassin's Creed series, one of my friends suggested that I should watch Angels and Demons (and read both books). So I'm watching Angels and Demons right now and I can't help but find similarities between the Illuminati and the Assassins from the AC series. I'll post my thoughts below but first;
SPOILER ALERT
"The Illuminati were not violent until the 17th century. They were mathematicians, physicists, scientists, they were concerned with the church's inaccurate teaching and wanted to bring people the truth. Because of that, the Vatican began to.. How did you put it? Oh yes, hunt them down and kill them. Drove them underground.. Into a secret society."
That's what happened in The Great Purge the Templars mounted against the Assassins.
"There wasn't a single organization they didn't infiltrate, including the Vatican, by hiding in plain sight."
- Robert Langdon about The Illuminati in Angels and Demons
"Hide in Plain Sight" is the 2nd Tenet of the Assassin's Creed. #ohsnap
The person who kills the 4 Cardinals kills them in public, then slips away. The killings are where the whole world can see, similar to how the Assassins operated near the beginning of their foundation and even later on.
"Is it conceivable the Illuminati have infiltrated the Swiss Guard?"
"Perhaps."
The Assassins were infiltrators, part of their 'Hide in Plain sight' behavior. It's easy to make the link. Furthermore, they're infiltrating the Church, where highly ranked people who can influence the world itself reside.
The supposed Illuminati member fights not only with a silenced pistol but a blade as well. When the police come in to see what's going on, he fools the two police officers by holding up his own badge and saying "Gendarmeri de Vaticana", displaying Assassin-like behavior, then proceeding to shoot both of them with expert speed and accuracy. He exhibits this deceptive behavior later when one of the cops tries to get him out of his van. All of his fighting uses stealth and the element of surprise.
What's odd is that this person we're made to believe is the antagonist is assassinated himself by the very same people he works for. More and more he's starting to sound like a Templar agent, or at the very least an Assassin who has gone rogue.
I don't know, I quite enjoyed this movie as well and the twist at the end was pretty ballin'. These are just some of the thoughts I had while watching it.
Good thoughs. I seen this movie before, infact i just bought a book about the freemasons.
