Damn, what's it been, three years? Four? I don't know what compelled me to come back but I just thought I'd drop in and say what it do.

What have I missed? I beat ACIII, it was shit! I heard Black Flag was the shit (but is a far cry from the old AC)! I heard Unity was laughably bad in the beginning but got tolerable after updates! I haven't heard anything about Rogue but don't plan on playing that anyway...

Should I get Black Flag? I've resigned myself to just playing FIFA 15 and NBA 2K15 on PS4 until the new Metal Gear Solid game comes out in September and blows everyone's nips clear off their respective chests. Unfortunately, this has left me craving a fun new adventure game and I'm not quite sure which one I should go with. I already blew through Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry 4 each in a week, and believe me when I say the Assassin's Creed series could certainly learn a thing or two from the former (especially from a combat standpoint), what a spectacle that game turned out to be.

But yeah, what's up?!?

Live by the creed, die by the creed!
Pussy, money, weed, that's all a n*gga need!

Whoa! I thought this was a joke when I first saw the title, but it takes only one look at the date you joined to know this is legit.

Black Flag was much better to me than AC3, but you'd want to find out more before checking it out. You might not like the naval gameplay, although it's bearable and there isn't too much of it. The assassinations aren't as scripted this time around, as well as in Unity (thankfully).

If you like Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry 4, I'll recommend Dishonored and Styx Master of Shadows. Both are great stealth games.

And don't worry. We've been taking good care of the Last person to Reply Wins thread. Innocent It's good to see you back and I hope we can have some in depth discussions for the current games going, not that I mind the current speculations of future ACs on here.

FIRST OF ALL, welcome BACK FLAE! OMG! I never thought we'd see you here again!

After ALL the updates and patches, Unity is actually quite fun if you really knuckle down on Main Memories. I did so last night, beat it in like four hours. Had a good time. There are some nice Assassinations and Disguise is a cool ability that brings some tension into just walking through an open courtyard.

Black Flag is like Wind Waker on crack. If you like Wind Waker, you will probably like Black Flag.

Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry 4 were two of my favorite games of 2014, as well. I 100%ed both of them seemingly without any pain, since I just enjoyed them so much.

I ALSO am excited for Phantom Pain in September, holy crap! That game is going to be awesome (we hope).

What else is new is that Patrice Desilets (creator of AC1 and AC2, and the whole series in general) after having gotten fired from Ubisoft, he made his own game studio called Panache Digital Games. He is currently working on a, I quote, "historical open-world third-person action-survival game." Yeah, that sounds pretty familiar to all of us at TheHiddenBlade. I'm excited to see what he makes, because Patrice himself has never made a bad game so far. Sands of Time was my childhood. Assassin's Creed, my teenage years.

If it isn't too late to introduce yourself, then I should as well.

I expressed my feelings about him fired (yes, there are two sides to every story, and I await Ubi's full story), but I didn't know he made his own studio and game. I wish Patrice good luck on that.

Lately I've been more in favor of open mission games than open world. The first two ACs were great in both their missions and open world stuff, but the rest were unsatisfying in that aspect and felt lacking. Unity looked like it would have worked better open mission since so many memories took place in a large building.

Not sure if I would get into Far Cry 4 since I lost interest in Far Cry 3, mostly because I was used to faster paced missions. To a hardcore AC fan, Unity is worth playing, although combat is entirely different from all the others (first game you can't counter kill).

The past games have still been played for creative videos. One that I'm particularly proud off:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDRWUIhdYtM

In a nutshell, using a [skipping through game exploit] mission replay+fast travel glitch in AC2, you can collect all feathers, most codex pages and the armor of Altair at the beginning of the game with interesting results.

Welcome back, although I probably wasn't even registrered yet back when you were active Tongue

I'd definitely recommend you get AC 4 and/or Unity though, they're massive improvements compared to AC3.

FLAE!!! I hope you're back for good. During one stabby chat, someone mentioned you as a former member who was sorely missed. I agreed and added, "FLAE was always entertaining". You don't have to make AC videos to make a positive contribution to The Hidden Blade.

Should I get Black Flag?

The consensus opinion is that Black Flag was the best of the post-Ezio Assassin Creed titles. There's some disagreement, of course. One good thing about Black Flag is that it's available on both seventh and eighth generation consoles. You may be able to get a bundle with both Unity and Black Flag for your PS4.

You won't even feel the blade.

Yuppers. The Old Guard, as it were. I wasn't fortunate enough to join super early, but I did arrive as soon as I saw Ian's video back before AC2 even launched. I'm satisfied with that, and I've seen lots of familiar faces come and go.

The big people back in the day to me were stabguy, IanX04 and FLAE for sure.

Lisa, Joey and Asaic, I remember from early on as well.
Vanitas made some interesting AC2 vids on his cellphone, I remember that ^_^
EzioAltair17 has been around for a while too, it seems.
Then I think Aurel and Phi joined and VERY QUICKLY established themselves as a positive force.
Fed981 joined and made some INSANE speedruns.
al-Assas came and started doing work on AC1-related things (we learned a LOT from him about that game)
Calvar joined at one point and offered deep analysis and a will to critique anything and anyone in the name of improvement.
MAGLX had their introduction be some really crazy skips/glitches/OOBs/speedruns as well.
RaccoonSandwich joined at some point (AND I COULD BE WRONG, but did he change his name to AltairAuditore or no...?) and discussed videos, made videos.
DoubleMcStab's been around enough that it actually feels like he's been here forever. But I mean at this point it kind of feels this way about everyone here anyway. I think that's a byproduct of being such a tight-knit community of like, 25/35 individuals.

There are a few others that my mind is grasping around for but when they post some more/become more active again I'll totally remember.

Ah! Well that cleared up the confusion haha. Believe it or not the only reason I was even able to track you despite your name-changes was by the videos you made.

I'm surprised we've lasted this long. Even if there aren't as many videos by as many members (even though Aurel is killing it like usual) we're still an active close-knit community. My appearances on here have been spotty lately, but I'm always checking in daily, even if I don't comment.

This website might evolve into something else over time, possibly not as AC-focused, but I'm always gonna be here!

What I meant was that someone could have made an account with nearly the same name (change a capital letter or something like that). That's why it took the join date to convince me it really was FLAE. Now I understand what you meant. You thought I thought FLAE was joking.

I wish MAGLX posted more of his stuff on here. Checking out his channel, I found some really neat stuff, like an eagle strike on a fleeing AC1 target. I blame the language barrier. Also nice recap on the active members, DAZ. Rob's applause

Whoa, I did not know that.

Also to keep FLAE up to date:
IanXO4 hasn't been around for a while.
Jackreacher pops in from time to time.
LisaMurphy doesn't have much more to say about AC.
After AC3, Rob_88 will never play another future game.
And there's a love story WORSE than Twilight. It's called 50 Shades of Gray.

Yeah I probably added to the confusion by changing my profile pic at the same time. Didn't even realize there was some confusion about it.
Atleast now that's figured out.

And didn't IanXO4 join in one of the stabbychats some time ago? I remember complementing him on his Sibrand eagle strike.

Damn, that's sad to hear. Ian is the person that got me to join AC-Maps way back in the day after I sent him a message complimenting his skills in this video:

I noticed when going to his use page to find that video that he hasn't recorded any AC gameplay since Brotherhood. I'm utterly shocked and saddened by this. I hope "Bad Piggies" is treating him better than AC3 treated any of us.

aurlcooljay wrote:

Doesn't surprise me. AC3 was a dumpster fire. The end of the game (and the game overall) felt like a swift kick in the nuts from Ubisoft. I can only imagine what Patrice felt seeing his child turned into that monstrosity. But all that being said, Rob was one of if not the funniest member on this site and I'll miss him. Maybe he'll have a change of heart like I did and will commit to posting sporadically.

So here for Lucy, Desmond and Clay all just kind of being Animus Constructs in Abstergo's Cloud Servers and kickin' Juno's BLUE BUTT back to EDEN. I mean Clay and Desmond already are, as of Unity, but can't hurt to have Lucy too.

On the day we opened it up to the public the first person to sign up was hewkii9, user #11:

Other notable early members include:
#12 Fly Like an Eagle
#14 TriggerPhzyc (she wanted to be user #13)
#17 Asaic
#22 ROB_88
#24 1001Human

ooo, oo... what's my number? 2497?
