Really thinking about cancelling my preorder now.
So... instead of free-running and climbing puzzles as the assassin's tombs, we'll have what ?!
I didn't understand it so much.
... You do know that an entirely separate team works on the Assassin's Tombs/ Lairs of romulous/ ??? stuff, right? The Assassinations team still has however many members it had at the start of the project, and is still creating as much stuff as they were going to before the platforming puzzle team came one, right?
TLDR: THERE IS NO REASON WHATSOEVER TO BE MAD ABOUT THIS. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE AMOUNT OF ASSASSINATION GAMEPLAY THAT WILL BE IN THE GAME.
Keep calm and carry on... : )
I don't like linear sequences. At all. So I STILL MAD.
For me even AC2 felt like I'm just watching a movie.
Even if you don't like linear puzzle sequences, these are optional side-mission linear puzzle sequences. So at the most you'll just have to go through a few of the very basic ones like the one shown at e3, which seems to be main-story stuff.
I enjoy awesome set-pieces, even if they're not too difficult. Ac's set-pieces are usually somewhat difficult. Case in point: the villa attack cannon-segment.
I enjoy linear puzzles, because in that case linear just means that there's only one solution, which is GOOD for a puzzle.
Agreed Calvar. I Still think that we can't be mad now, because there is 5 months left for AC:R release.
So there is 5 months of information left, we don't have much information yet so keep calm. Also linear puzzles are good indeed.
Keep optimistic guys.
EDIT: You guys are speculating so many bad things about AC:R . What about wait for more info ? What about wait til the game comes out? We can't guess some many things at this time, keep calm.
Yeah this hurts..... here's another article on the same subject. EDIT: (Well... actually the same my bad XD )

Very interesting never knew that... I love the secret locations, it brought a unique feel of the game... I wonder who works on those sequences?
EDIT EDIT: I'm not a hater but reading this article makes me want to say.....
Yeah it isn't the same feeling of the AC, but guys, we gotta live with it, Ubi is trying to please all crowds.
The game hasn't even released.
We just watch a DEMO, and E3 trailer and read some articles.. What about waiting a little bit til we get more info ?

I respect that, still buying it no matter what
Same fyiByas ! Buying with no matter what. I'm optimistic, i have good hopes for this game.
In the case that it fails ( i doubt it'll fail, lol ) we gotta understand, patience. ;D
EDIT: Also, this DEMO was just one mission between various anothers. I doubt that the other missions will be like this (like "blowing stuff up"). Yeah we'll see some more missions like this, but not all the missions or a big part of it will be like this...
Keep optimistic guys.
It's just hard to stay optimistic after playing each one since this series started, seeing the ever-growing pattern of linearity, and articles like these. I'm known to my friends as being very optimistic, but this is probably the first thing I have almost no hope for gameplay-wise.
I'll still get it for the storyline and multiplayer, since I just found out it rewards players for being even stealthier in game modes.
From what we know now, you could be right, and Assassin's Dens suck and we have no open assassinations, or you could be wrong. There's no real proof either way. All we know is that there is a separate team working on this stuff, we don't know if the assassinations team has changed their design philosiphy.
I dont mind too much, when I think about it, it would be lame if they released a game just like AC1. AC1 was pretty much perfect by itself, anything else would fail miserably. If I ever want to play AC1 style, well I just play AC1!
We always seem to come up with interesting finds in these games anyway, and if the dens are better than the borgia towers that I really liked from ACB, then this wont be a fail in my eyes.

QFT.
Ubisoft is trying to make a really good game. Brotherhood might have been a shakey step along that path, but they can't have done anything but learn a lot from it.
Off Topic: A vid that shows Ubisoft making another AC? (not surprised)
That's gonna be on the Wii U...

It's a pretty bad interview, I fear Ubisoft is becoming Money hungry now...

That's how business works these days. Let's take something successful and repeat it as many times as people will keep buying it.

True. no innovation what so ever...
worst interview EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they got a total retard representing ubisoft
Lol, this is the Assassin's Creed for Wii U. It's for a platform that doesn't have ANY AC games so far. Not really becoming money hungry, since it's just a Wii U exclusive. No-one complained about DS exclusives.
i only have one with it problem and that is i don't see how its gonna work at all

Agreed Jack. I totally agree.

I disagree. While AC1 is a huge and vast game and I still enjoy playing it, the investigation part is getting a bit boring because I already know where most of them are...
Besides, AC1 could use some improvements.

THAT ! Ubi improved AC1 then released AC2, then Ubi improved AC2 and released ACB, now Ubi is improving ACB and will release ACR. What else do you want ?
I didn't get your point mate.

They improved, but in the process destructed a few of the more important features of AC1, like investigations and locations, so you could actually plan, as well as shorter conversations, etc. etc.
AC:B was just taking everything not good about AC2 and building upon that. The only thing I really enjoyed were the Romulus lairs and (to an extent) the war machine missions, because they made a brilliant break from the dull story. Multiplayer was good as well, but other than those things, I didn't like the game much.
I want the good things about AC1 back. Repetition was not an issue for me.
Yeah repetitions for me wan't an issue too, but for many other people it was, that's why Ubi made those changes. :s

Repetition was an issue for me, it make a brilliant game less replayable. AC1 had faults, all the games do but AC2 made more improvements than problems.
Degrading AC:B is done too lightly on these forums at the moment. Yes, it wasn't a step in the right direction but it had good points, the borgia towers as an example. Being nostalgic and expecting the games to be perfect and exactly as we want them isn't the best idea. The people on this forum are perhaps more intellectual than your average gamer and it is predictable that a company will make a game for the average gamer. I understand your frustration Phi but as had been pointed out, AC1 assassinations had little more freedom than AC2, although I grant you that AC:B's assassinations were poor. I am slightly dissapointed but also realistic, these games will continue to be good, just not as 'perfect' as AC1.
And it sounds like they're trying to make the Dens fill the void of AC1 assassinations. Unsure if this means no other non-linear assassinations. probably not.

Agreed bro.
The repetitions made the game less enjoyable and replayable.
But also, so many linear gameplay makes the game less enjoyable and replayable, so technically Ubi needs to fix this 2 things for a Win.
PS: i know that can be more issues, but these are the basics ones.
I don't mind linear gameplay or repetitions... Just the fact that I will enjoy
I don't mind linear gameplay or repetitions... Just the fact that I will enjoy
I feel the same way !
Yeah i think that repetitions and linear gameplay makes the game less enjoyable, but i still don't mind, if the story is good, the gameplay mechanics (like combat, free-run) don't have bugs and the features (like assassins dens, zip lines) are cool, i'm ok, and the game won't be a fail for me.
I think if Ubi made difficulty modes, it would partially fix the issue we're constantly whining about here.
What I mean is, have Easy and Normal modes that give the player indicators of what to do/where the target is, etc. But the Hard mode gives you nothing. You get the HUD, but the area where the target is could be covered in red (or not if they really want to make it challenging). The player would have to deal with whatever mistakes they make...harshly. This way, it shows off a player's Assassination skills and gives the nostalgic strategic processes us AC1 maniacs are craving.
Just as Arkham Asylum took away indicators of a potential attack by a thug in its hardest mode, AC would take away any "give-away" icons on the screen.
Would this make everybody happy? I could live with it. Well, after a few retries...
I could definately live with a hard-core mode. It's probably that they're upping the difficulty of assassinations to make up for you having Eagle sense, so doing it sans eagle sense might be even more challenging.
I would love to see difficulty modes, i will play on the hardest mode
It would be so cool.

I was thinking on that yesterday. It's very likely that we'll see that, well.. i hope.
Yay! I love it when we agree, Calvar!
lol Joey.
You and Calvar have alot of disagreements, but i knew you have agreements too.
We agree about a lot of stuff, but no one ever notices those.
Pretty much the only thing I disagreed with you about is that the demo is indicative of all the content in the entire game's style.
Other than that, I love your ideas! : P
Pretty much the only thing I disagreed with you about is that the demo is indicative of all the content in the entire game's style
Yeah, pretty much that, and you're right, we can't expect nothing from the game by just watching a DEMO, the demos are made to show new features and stuff like that. Ubi made it, they made the demo to show some of the new features, such as the Greek Fire, the Explosive Bomb, the new Smoke Bomb, the hook blade etc..
We can't expect the game to be like that because this is just a Demo, and not a gameplay that shows the entire game's style. Indeed Caalvar, agreed.
