Hello guys, i've searched for a 100% speedrun but i didn't find anything. I'm thinking of running any% first and then i'll start routing the 100%.
P.S. I'll be playing the PC version, it's called Director's Cut i think. Is there any big difference?
The Director's Cut of Assassin's Creed has some different Investigation Memories, given by Informants.
AC1 doesn't track percentages per se. It's clear what an any% run would be: minimum number of Investigations, no Save Citizens or Viewpoints (except the tutorials in Memory Block 2). It's not obvious what 100% would look like. All Investigations, Save Citizens and Viewpoints, I suppose. What about Flags, Templars and optional Desmond activities?
Phi has been planning an AC1 speedrun for years. I don't know what the current status is on that project. Perhaps you two could collaborate on something.
I've got the Director's cut edition as well. It's got some new challenges in the investigations: destroying merchant stands, stealthily assassinating rooftop archers, escorting an informant and a rooftop race across the city. I don't know what the investigations are in a copy that's NOT director's cut, it could make a small difference because one is easier than the other.
Any% it doesn't always go with the minimum stats route, that's low%. Anyway 100% would be mostly any trackable activity, so flags, templars would be counted. I'm not sure tho. I'll do a casual playthrough first and then i'll start watching all the glitches and stuff.
Btw, there is already a couple runs done by Wymorn (such as: http://www.twitch.tv/wymorn/c/2384216), i haven't checked if it does use the latest optimal route. I've noticed that Phi has posted a lot of useful stuff here and on sda.
Anyway, i like that there is an active community on AC series.
Make sure that the game doesn't screw you over with collecting flags. I've never been able to get credit for collecting all 20 Masyaf flags. It just says I've gotten 19/20 and there are none left to be collected. I've tried three separate new games to get them to work, but it never does.

This guy! Every f***ing time, man.

Mostly I'm just lazy about it.
I'd be happy to help you out with whatever you need.
100% would be everything that's tracked in the DNA menu. So investigations, flags, templars, viewpoints and save citizens in addition to all the assassinations.

Gotta make sure everyone knows! If even Joey hasn't been through all the content on the site, then I hardly imagine a new member would dig through to find my complaints.

Thanks, i appreciate that. Is the route in the first post of your thread the most updated? I'll probably write it in a public google doc spreadsheet.

That's what i'm thinking, it'll be probably be this.

No. I've done some route testing I believe I posted in the thread. But that's for any% so for the investigations you'll have to find something else.

Hopefully not too lazy; This game deserves it's own speedrun. Plus I can only imagine the look on some peoples' faces when they see exploits they never heard of being used.

I just don't spend a lot of time with videogames anymore. Over the summer maybe I'll get some more segments done. I'm just behind Tamir already, though my current segment doesn't have a glitch I discovered later that saves ~10 seconds.
I should also make a video on double jump and bump.
Hmmm, perhaps you could do something like record each segment at long intervals. Record one, wait for a month or two to record the next, then repeat. I can't think of any motivation, unless people are really interested in seeing this.

I would love to see that, you have posted a lot of interesting stuff. I currently do a normal playthrough of the game. When i finish it i'll start learning the segments you've posted and also i'll build an autosplitter for RTA runs. I can create a channel on SRL irc too, to gather all the people that are interested on running any of the AC series.

I vaguely remember a post saying that not even you have scoured every thread on this site. Perhaps that was someone else, though. My mind remembers a lot of entirely useless information.
We need teamwork, I guess. I want to do something, but because I'm on PC, my Informer Missions with consoles is slightly different, so all I can do is assists.
Should we be the current fastest videos sorted out? Then we can go gradual manner on the foundation.
P.S. What is the rule of time measurement?
Fastest videos are all in the AC1 speedrun thread. I'll get to doing more, I swear!
Time measurement is first instance of control to last instance of control. So from the moment you can walk around in the unstable memory to the moment you view the glyphs on the wall of your bedroom.

Grinding segments is just frustrating because resetting takes a long-ass time, especially on Xbox. In that sense I think AC is better as a single-segment run, but that takes ages.

We'll need that in writing and fingerprinted in blood. For absolute confirmation, I'm sure you understand.

This is probably what I like about speedruns. The beautiful irony of spending massive amounts of time preparing for the run, in which the goal is to spend the least amount of time.
