I think there is only one city remotely close to satisfying those two conditions (in the general area of the last city anyway... leaving out southern hemisphere and staying within the same time zone).

This problem was more challenging than I anticipated. Only Cheese was able to correctly answer with Fussen, Germany. He collects 400 points for getting the answer after 2 clues. I'm sure everyone would love to hear how he solved this problem.

Here are the overall standings:
Phi - 500
Gerund - 801
Cheese - 1000
Methodical - 600
Aurel - 200
Lisa - 399

Step 1: go to http://www.sunrisesunsetmap.com/
Step 2: click on Salzburg
Step 3: note Salzburg sunset time on May 6 is 20:28
Step 4: click in the cardinal directions around Salzburg to note that north and west = later Sunset... randomly click in those directions
Step 5: note that Milan has a sunset at 20:37
Step 6: guess Milan
Step 7: get clue number 2 and note that Milan cannot be right

Step 8: note that the Sunset time in Salzburg on May 7 is 20:29 and the sunrise time is 5:41
Step 9: simple math tells you that you need a city with sunset at 20:38 and sunrise at 5:51
Step 10: note that Milan's day is too short, go north diagonally clicking on cities until you find a city that works
Step 11: note that there is a waterfall in the city and that stabguy likes waterfalls - feel confident in your guess

Before arriving in Germany, stabguy dispatched a team of assassin recruits to take control of Neuschwanstein Castle.
This would serve as the Assassin's home base for European operations.

As I mentioned earlier, we tried to break up long drives by stopping at sights along the way. On the way from Salzburg to Fussen we stopped at Wieskirche, a beautiful rococo church in Steingaden, Germany. From there it was just a 30 minute drive along the Romantic Road to Fussen.

When I was in elementary school I saw a photo of Neuschwanstein Castle and got the notion that all castles looked like that. Later I learned that it was unique, and had been Walt Disney's inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's castle. I've been wanting to go there ever since. The castle sits partway up a hill. You can walk if you really want to but we took a horse drawn carriage instead. The inside of the castle is as cool as the outside. Photography was not allowed.

We should have just stayed one night in the village of Hohenschwangau, seen the castle, and left. I made the mistake of booking two nights in the nearby town of Fussen, thinking that it was another medieval city with things to see. Our tour book recommended the Rathaus (town hall) which turned out to still be in use by city employees. In the hallway was a lousy Pietà. I didn't know what to make of this. Puzzled

Cheese mentioned that Fussen had a waterfall. Even that turned out to be weird. There was a nicer waterfall behind Neuschwanstein Castle. The Marienbrücke suspension bridge which spans it actually predates the castle.

You won't even feel the blade.

Did you mean cooler than the lousy Pieta?

And yes, that Pieta is extremely lousy. Almost so bad it's good. Almost.

I recognized it as a reproduction of the Palestrina Pietà in Florence. One theory is that Jesus was sculpted by Michelangelo and (after his death) another artist completed Mary, forever showing the contrast between competence and genius. The reproduction in Fussen is so poor that you can't see the contrast.

A web search reveals that Palestrina, Italy and Fussen, Germany are twin towns (or "sister cities"). Perhaps the Pietà in the Rathaus was a gift from Palestrina.

Yeah, I think you're right. It was about 4 feet tall and had a very long nose.
