A superfast blitz on William is possible because of how the game works. When you get to the assassination jump from a certain spot on a roof to grasp the edge of a railing and pull yourself up. The scene won't start because you're not in an upright position. Jump from railing to railing and other structures to get near the gate entrance of the citadel. When you reach this destination and Altair is standing the scene will start and you are in the huddle of William, King Richard, and other soldiers. You can now walk inside the citadel to where William will appear after the scene. The camera view will focus on the scene outside, so steering your way in there can be tricky. You'll know if you've reached the target's room because there are two guards posted on either side of the entrance outside of it. Stand behind the table on the far side of the room and wait for William to appear by it after the scene ends, mashing the assassinate button. You know what happens next- William gets owned!!!
I tried this with Maria today. Alas, it didn't work. I lost the ability to use high-profile actions and all that, even though I was on a non-standing surface, just like Aurel was in this vid. I tried two approaches. One by using the small building on the right (where an archer appears later on) and the second by jumping down from a building (no cutscene had started yet) to a rail where I was crouching. The cutscene started when I was mid-air.
Also, the cutscene stopped during the first try, somehow. I had the line of sight between me and Maria broken. They were all just standing there with their hands clasped. I had no way of getting of the building, I had walked too far.
Interesting stuff.
I don't think that anyone can beat this record. It's kinda hard to kill your target in less than .03 seconds.
Perhaps this is possible on other ac1 targets? I might hop back on ac1 and look around

I assume that this would be possible with Tamir atleast, since he's the first target and spawns really close to you. Just gotta figure out where he spawns after the cutscene.
great job! we have a new record! (not a glitch - it counts). i'll update the menu soon.

Yay!!! I guess I overreacted when I thought it might be invalid because it could have been considered a glitched mission. For the record I did not glitch my way in the scene, I merely got around an invisible barrier that prevented me from getting in there. So what would be considered a glitched mission (besides using cheat engine or something like that)?

It's different for the other targets. In this case it allows you to do high profile actions if your not in a standing position when you reach the checkpoint, but for the others you can't do those actions even if you aren't standing when you reach the checkpoint. Plus for some you either don't have any nearby ledges to grab onto or you have to stand in a certain spot for the scene to start. But it's worth trying...

Getting to the target in a fashion unintended by the developers doesn't make it a glitch. I think the records for Garnier (entering the hospital before the cutscene formally ends), Abul (running behind the rear guard before he turns around), Robert (assassinating before the final battle) could all fall into this category.
What would be a glitch? Something that cant be reproduced reliably. For example, one player reported that he saw Sibrand strolling through the streets of Acre as he was headed to the Acre port to start the cutscene for the assassination mission. He killed Sibrand in the streets, and the game counted it as the assassination. The likely explanation is that the game had spawned Sibrand in the wrong location, and Sibrand was just headed to the port for the cutscene, as it was his next waypoint.
Obviously, using a cheat engine is cheating, and doesnt count. That said, different people will have different tastes for what counts as "cheating." For example, I can see how some people would view your (Aurel's) Pazzi Conspirators blitzes as being a cheat because you moved the "start line" to the "finish line." This blitz on William is quite different... you simply positioned yourself strategically during the cutscene, which is a standard practice in designing blitzes.
I've found this glitch as well and I have been looking for a way to do it on William. You got there first, so the honour is all yours, congratulations!
Truly brilliant! I personally feel this is a very clever exploit of game mechanics, and the way you got into that cutscene was top class. Then he just popped up, Strike! Great job.
Absolutely amazing!!! It's incredible how you do these superfast blitzes
@Aurel
I wouldn't consider this a glitch, more or less an exploit. We'll see what Ian thinks
The funny thing is right before I tried this I did the original William blitz from the Eleven Man Blitz video. Then I restarted the mission and tried jumping at certain places to grab a ledge and was surprised that while I was crouching the scene wouldn't start and I could still jump around. By the way, would this be considered a glitched mission? Because I put this as a video response to Ianxo4's fastest assassinations video, and glitched missions are not valid.
saw this in my subscription box on youtube, instantly knew it was going to be a thb front page (:
EPIC.
Oh my god, hahaha, awesome
ARE YOU F*CKING SERIOUS?!?!?!
...speechless
