I thought to do this run in November 2010. The first segment was finished on 2011-02-27 and the last one on 2011-03-26.

I wish to thank firstly my girlfriend for her support during the attempts. I also wish to thank SDA team, especially for the technical problems I had. I thank people on the forum too, for giving me many tips. I also took some tips on several websites: TheHiddenBlade, The Assassin's Creed Wiki, and other things like walkthroughs on YouTube.

The game settings were all at the minimum, including the resolution.

The only rules I fixed were no save warping and no death abuse. Originally the run was planned to be a single-segment run but I finally did it in 18 segments because a single-segment would have been too difficult and too long. As a general comment, I would say that I tried to run as fast as possible but I had sometimes to slow down in order to dodge people in the streets, for instance. Also, I know that in a few moments I could have done quicker but I prefer to be sure, rather than use a random method. For the time, I think that we can trust the in-game timer even though it does not count the time spent outside the Animus. Each segment adds about 5 seconds to the time.

Segment 01 - Beginning (Abstergo Industries/hideout)

A good thing in this segment is the only cutscene you can skip in the game, the very first one right after the name entry. The beginning is easy. I managed to perform every move before the game prompts to do them (as baby Ezio). After following Lucy to the elevator, as you can see, it's possible to run straight forward to the next elevator without being spotted, but you have to wait for Lucy to stop and to run along the left side because there are two guards on the right.

The fight in the parking lot has been improved comparing to the original plan. Lucy can beat the guards much faster than Desmond because she can perform counterkills. So just put Desmond in a corner, do not look at Lucy and the fight will end quickly, as in this run.

Nothing special to say about the hideout. I decided to begin to talk with Shaun because he's far away compared to Lucy and Rebecca. Also I turned a little too much while approaching Rebecca.

Damn. To think that this game can be completed in less than 6 hours...

The run has been "published" on Speed Demos Archive. Here is the link.

I've used the fastest techniques I could, as far as they're quite easy and not so risky. You'll see in the rest of the run.

Some assassination targets in ac2 can be killed pretty fast, which would help in a speed run. Here are some examples.

There are also other fast assassinations that take time to plan, so that would waste time instead of save it.

Very cool. We sometimes talk about the minimum time to finish an AC game but few of us have bothered to attempt a speedrun. I've considered doing a speedrun of AC1. It doesn't have an in-game timer so you would use a stopwatch or something. YurkleNorf says a tester at Ubisoft did an AC1 speedrun in 8.5 hours. I think we could improve upon that.

I would have edited the word kixed except I didn't know what word you were looking for. Was it "nixed"? I assume save warping means restoring a backed up savegame to attempt another speedrun of a segment. What is death abuse?

I know that in a few moments I could have done quicker but I prefer to be sure, rather than use a random method.

Understood. When Ian and I do collection videos we prefer robust paths over the absolute fastest but high risk method.

As you can see, it's possible to run straight forward to the next elevator without being spotted.

I always wondered if there was a more direct route through the Animi. Wink

Could you do me a favor and link to them from the main article above? No need to embed the video or copy the description here. Just text links indexed by Sequence number for those who are interested. I'll get you started...

You won't even feel the blade.

For timing, you can use a frame counter if the run is recorded. Have a look at speed demos archive rules.

"fixed"

Both are almost the same. It means save/die in order to appear back at a different place ; a place that is closer to the next thing to do.

It will take a month to upload all videos (my upload size per day is limited). Once all uploaded I can paste the link to the videos. But they're not always sequences of the game, they're recording segments ; you can have a look to the planning thread (for PC) on speed demos archive forum***. Anyway, here is the link to the playlist : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhlcNSfyNM0&playnext=1&list=PLB00BB31F61E...

*** Here is the content of each segment :
- 01 : beginning -> enter the animus
- 02 : 'boys will be boys' -> 'last man standing' (end of sequence 1)
- 03 : whole sequence 2
- 04 : 'roadside assistance' -> 'what goes around'
- 05 : 'a change of plans' & Claudia/architect/Mario stuff
- 06 : 'practice what you preach' -> 'farewell Francesco' (end of sequence 4)
- 07 : whole sequence 5
- 08 : 'road trip' -> 'tutti a bordo'
- 09 : intermission
- 10 : whole sequence 7
- 11 : whole sequence 8
- 12 : whole sequence 9
- 13 : whole sequence 10
- 14 : whole sequence 11
- 15 : whole sequence 12
- 16 : whole sequence 13
- 17 : 'X marks the spot'
- 18 : 'in bocca al lupo' & ending

Edit : thanks for adapting the post for the front page ; I didn't know how to do it.

Excuse me, but I was not expecting this to be in French but this is excellent all things considered Wink Good work.
