The backup/copy back/renaming thing is now fully being accomplished by the Assassin's Creed Profile Renamer. It also allows you to select a custom symbol for your profile name, like the hidden blade or so.
Try it out and feel free to comment it 
Perhaps there will be a version for AC2, so let me know what I could improve there.
