Frequently Asked Question: I'm on Memory Block 4 and there's nothing left to do on my map. What now?

This guide is directed at those who are still playing through Assassin's Creed for the first time. The greatest joy in the game comes from figuring out how to stealth assassinate one of the main targets on your first try, without reading a walkthrough first. For me, this satisfaction came much too late (the eighth target). I was good at the "not cheating" part but lousy at planning an assassination, mostly because there were aspects of the game play which I did not understand.

A recurring theme in the Stylish Assassination series is the "air to assassinate" move. Both Ubisoft and Prima hint that it's possible but neither elaborate on how or even when you can do it. An internet search reveals only partial answers and misinformation ("press X while in the air" pffft ).

Most Templars are harder to find than they are to stealth assassinate. In cities they tend to stand in front of walls. Start from the roof and climb down (or Drop and Grasp) the wall above them. When your Control HUD says "assassinate" hit that button (you may have to hold the Right Trigger for a High Profile air to assassinate). Other Templars, particularly in the Kingdom, have a blind side. Approach from the correct direction hugging that wall and you will be able to sneak up behind them. If he has a shelter over his head, get on it and drop into his blind spot.

You all know by now that I'm a big fan of air to assassinate. Ubisoft must have rushed it in at the last minute because both they and Prima failed to document how to do it. Whenever someone on the internet asks for help, at least one well intentioned player comes to their aid with advice like, "Jump at your target and hit the attack button when you get close." That's what I call a "jump assassinate" (or "stunt assassinate" if the fall is high enough to cause partial desynchronization). Air to assassinate is actually easier and more reliable. The problem with jump assassinate is you have to judge where you will land and make sure it's close to the target. I usually end up jumping way over the target's head.

SPOILER ALERT: This is a walkthrough for the assassination of Robert de Sable, the ninth target. If you haven't completed that mission yet, I recommend you turn back now.

Let's do this one in total stealth fashion like we did Abu'l Nuqoud. Get in, assassinate Sibrand, and get out of the docks area, all without ever becoming Exposed (flashing yellow or red icon). I'll throw in a mini air to assassinate because I can't help myself.
