Like every other AC game, you can keep playing as the ancestor after you complete AC3. But you're not allowed to leave the animus anymore. As a result, you cannot replay any of Desmond's missions or access his email. So if you want to retain access to those things, back up your save at some point before beginning Sequence 12.

It's disappointing that they went to the trouble of giving us the ability to replay Desmond's missions during the main story, but once you finish the game you're locked out of them completely. If you want to see them again you need to start a new game.

The emails aren't too important, but I found it a bit odd that the game starts giving you a bunch of them right near the end and the only way to read them is to interrupt the climactic parts of the story to exit the animus and go and check your mail. If you proceed to complete S12, you're basically locked into finishing the game and I don't think you can stop and check your mail along the way. And once the credits roll, there's no going back.

The e-mails got pretty important near the end (or maybe that's just me). But every time 111011101011100001101 or whoever messages you? Creepy stuff. Of course, we know who it is, we can interpret that from the content of their e-mails but it's still cool.

Yeah, I really wanted to read those emails and was annoyed that I only had a very limited window to do so. Now I have to wait three weeks for the PC version to read them. Tongue

Thanks for the info!

Will definitely keep this in mind.

Actually I checked mine at the last minute (where you said you couldn't check them on the way). Just walk back to your laptop to read them. It doesn't change anything.

Good to know. I didn't have any desire to break the mood of that part of the story by stopping to check my mail. Smile

Ughhh, I missed that email then! Also:

I wonder who is playing the animus after the game ends. Someone with the same ancestry as Desmond... maybe Desmond has gone all Kaczmarek on us? He DID die in a room filled with TWCB tech, has a high concentration of TWCB DNA, and Juno somehow preserved HER consciousness... I'm going to guess we re-visit the vault in AC4 or another sequel, and Desmond is in control of it now. I completed the optional thing after the epilogue with the pivots, and I think this theory may be correct because of the dialogue you get at the end.

I think it's still Desmond. I understood from what Juno explained earlier that he placed his consciousness into the device, so he's stuck there. What the Cloud synchronization is will be used for whoever we play as in the sequel.

Good ol Desmond. Even with his original body and mind destroyed he still bothered to upload data the rest of the world would need.

I'm really hoping for a year break from AC. I want the next game to be high quality ad full-length, even if it's more derivative than inventive.

You never once hear his voice, and the people that are messing with his data are a group of hackers. It's definitely Erudito, whoever they are.

Oh, I don't doubt it's Erudito, but the specifically say "He did it!" after you upload your data to the cloud. Maybe Desmond's imprint is unable to speak at the moment. It makes sense, considering how hard it was for Clay to get to the point where he could communicate at all.

That is actually a really cool idea. I'd love to interact with Desmond the way we interacted with Clay's Animus Ghost. I mean, eventually the bleeding effect would probably get to him the same way, right? That is, assuming that he is locked into a perpetual Animus.

I find it ridiculous to say, but I'm actually incredibly excited for AC4.

If you remember the emails, Rebecca says that Clay's sacrifice basically gave Desmond the ability to use the animus as long as he wanted, with no muscle atrophy or bleeding effect.

I know, right? They've done what I never thought possible: set up a VERY different situation that future games can deal with, and did it in a way that wrapped up Desmond and really didn't feel contrived or out of nowhere.

AC4 will not have the same old status quo, and that's exciting!

Your Spoiler Tag is correct, I just forgot about it. That's really interesting. I'm curious to see what they're going to do with that later.

And yes, I'm getting all tingly. Fortunately, I like AC3's multiplayer enough to keep me going until AC4 info is released. That's pretty good Laughing out loud
