Anyone used to play this series? I'm getting a little too hyped over the new gameplay they just released. Total nostalgia! I'm definitely saving up for this one...

Looks cool, but I have a feeling I'd be happy just playing BF2 some more. I think there are still servers going.

i have not yet seen he new E3 stuff, so keep that in mind when i say this.

i absolutely loved the first two games, and it was crushing when, years ago, i heard the third game was canceled. and i've been wishing for a new game ever since.

however, now that it's coming, i just can't get hyped for it at all.
one problem might be that i'm not convinced that this won't be anything else than a re-skinned Battlefield now that DICE is on it, and i got bored of Battlefield a long time ago.

another thing is that when they first started coming out with details, it was all about what wasn't in the game when compared to the old ones. "we have no space battles, no Galactic Qonquest mode, no single player campaign and there's no this, and no that."
with all that, i can't help but feel underwhelmed, and the stuff shown at the 4th of May Star Wars thing didn't really help at all.

EDIT: while i still hold those points to be true, i have to admit that that E3 gameplay trailer was freaking amazing, and i see there can be some potential here, if they do it right

Things will not calm down, Daniel Jackson. They will in fact calm up

They don't have a campaign, but I think they have self-contained missions set during each battle that can be played co-op or single-player. Also, remember that despite space combat being gone, there are more air-based vehicles on each map for each side, so you can have your dogfights on Hoth rather than above a jpg. of Hoth.

I personally am not super excited just because I'm not that interested in this kind of game any more. I still like shooters, but I have different tastes as far as mechanics.

I've been worried about it as well. Battlefront was one of the first games that I took pride in playing (similar to my MLG Pro stubbornness of Assassin's Creed multiplayer), so I had reservations. However, that gameplay trailer brought back so many beloved memories. I instantly remembered what buttons to press to do everything in the video and even how the game felt in action. This is what I've always thought a new Battlefront would look like. My excitement shot through the roof once I saw this trailer.

I really love that you don't have to play online to do anything. There are games like this where I enjoy feeling all-powerful in a free-for-all (almost) game mode. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast's Bot multiplayer was such a fun mode back in the day. I set the number of bots to maximum, gave everyone lightsabers, and made it every man for himself. So much chaos!!

Also, Battlefront has split-screen! Not a lot of games do that anymore.
