I was liberating one of the forts today (don't remember which one off the top of my head), and was trying to stealthily eliminate guards. There were three in an area I got rid of with no one else anywhere nearby (nor where there patrolling guards that came through the area, as I waited before pouncing to see their routes). After I assassinated the third guard, I picked him up to move him into a hiding spot, when two guards randomly spawned right in front of me, naturally spotting me and setting off the alarm.

Has this happened to anyone else, or was it just a bad luck thing for me?

One awesome fallout to this happening was that I managed to kill the fort's captain via human shield. Not as awesome as trip mining the captain and having him destroy his own powder reserves, but still pretty cool. This got me to thinking (and I've discussed with Double McStab), is it possible to kill an assassination target via human shield? I don't know if it's been attempted and isn't, but that'd be a cool way to get one of the guys that isn't currently listed on Ian's extensive list of ways to kill a target.

Slowly, but surely, the job gets done.

Doesn't work on Pitcairn... None of the many times I've tried anyway.

That is... He thwarts all attempts by slapping you around. Another to try on would be Silas, and maybe the guy at the end of seq 9... Don't remember if that's possible or not. Been a while...

Ha! Good luck with it. Since William Johnson runs like a scared child, it probably won't work on him. You might be able to pull it off with Thomas Hickey by running directly to Washington's guards and taking him on. Counter throw him to the ground a few times and some regulars will come over give him a hand. I'm not sure if they'll ever open fire on you, but since the whole thing is in slow motion anyway, you don't have to be as quick with all the commands.

It appears Double McStab has been unsuccessfully trying to pull it off against Pitcairn, so perhaps he is out of the question too. Seeing as how I'm still in Sequence 9 (the "Methodical" in my name doesn't only apply to how I play the game, but also the speed at which I complete it). And why did the developers go Homestead Mission crazy in Sequence 9?
