Due to the nature of this discussion, seeing as it's about a character from the games, it MAY have spoilers. To be safe, don't read this unless you've beaten Sequence 1 of AC: Revelations.
------------------------------

So uh.. I love Lucy. I've been trying to keep it in for a really long time. But I really really do love her. And I'm really sad now. It's pretty stupid how I feel this way, and feel bad about a fictional character, but I doubt I'm the first one to feel this way. Part of the reason why Assassin's Creed was so awesome for me was because of how cool Lucy was. I mean, she saved my life. Twice. Maybe three times. She told Vidic not to push me too hard. She told Abstergo I may be useful later. And she broke me out of Abstergo's building and even let me meet other Assassins. Without Lucy, nothing would have been possible, and I would have probably been used to find more Pieces of Eden then killed. It just feels really unfair y'know.

I've never loved a game (or fiction at all, for that matter) character so much in my entire life.
And it seems to have just sunk in now. I mean, I know of her fate at the end of Brotherhood. But only after finishing Revelations did I FULLY REALIZE that what happened to her, happened and it's not gonna be changed.

Feels like Final Fantasy 7 and what happened to Aeris all over again.. Only worse.
Because Lucy is awesome.

So I was pretty much just ranting about how amazing and awesome she is.
If anyone wants to say something, that's fine.
You don't have to love her, you can hate her too. I believe a good character is one who people can both love and hate.

It's a shame she won't be back. She was the only one who's life goal was to guide Desmond to saving the world. The others, even Desmond, were doing what they did in order to get on with it. It just doesn't seem right to have her taken away like that. So sudden and unexpected.

I know, that's what I thought, too.
I mean, they were even clearly flirting in the beginning of Brotherhood.
And then HE becomes her demise.
That was just so.. It was..

"We lost two more teams last night. That's 8 more of us.. just.. gone."
- Lucy

"What's done is done, Desmond. You're here now, and that's what matters."
- Lucy

Honestly, Desmond and Lucy have pretty much just been tormented the entire series.
I was expecting something GOOD to happen you know?
At least let them be a LITTLE happy, just for a bit.
They killed her off without giving any of them a chance.

Of course, for every character that I truly love, there's gotta be a character I truly hate.
Juno. I despise Juno. She was the one that controlled Desmond into doing that.
Absolutely, the worst part was that the game lets you STRUGGLE. You can try to FIGHT BACK against Juno's corrupting influence. And I fought. I did fight, I mean come on. But eventually.. I had to.

It was like the ending of MGS3, where the game forces you to pull the trigger on someone you love and it doesn't progress until you press the button on your controller.

I know what you mean. To hear Rebecca and Shaun talking about her burial so seriously made me so sad.

I hope Desmond goes to her grave at some point in AC3.

As I've said before, I'm impressed by the story-writer's resolve to kill her off so suddenly. In any other game, she would have just been seriously injured, but Ubisoft is hardcore. I appreciate how much they made me like this character that it's sad that they're gone. Good storytelling indeed.

Yeah. From a story standpoint or critical standpoint, it's amazing and I love it.
But from a personal stand point, I'm sad that she's gone man, I loved her haha

What I liked about Desmond and Lucy's relationship was that whether they liked each other in a romantic way or not (if so they probably knew that it wasn't the time and place to try and become a couple) they supported each other without being overly dramatic. There was a natural simplicity between them that made a nice bond.

What makes me really sad when thinking about Lucy's death is in the beginning of Brotherhood when Desmond jokes about her being the "in bed at 6" type, she promises to show him a "good time" when this is all over.

Sadly, Desmond and Lucy will never get to have that good time. *sigh* Sad

That quote, as Calvar said, is indeed extremely sad.

It was probably the best relationship I've seen in a video game thus far. It's been confirmed that Lucy liked Desmond, they say it in Revelations. Desmond PROBABLY liked her because I mean come on, right. He was so sad when she was gone, such sorrow, you don't see for JUST AN ALLY and nothing more.

It was confirmed for Lucy but not so evident for Desmond, IMO. The reaction he had when 16 told him about her burial, it wouldn't be out of place to have it for the death of a very close friend. Friendship can be as strong as love, without loving as a lover (if that makes sense).
However, it would perfectly follow his ancestors' lives, having all had their first lover die : Altaïr lost Adha, and Ezio lost Cristina. Going by what Juno says at the end of ACB, there will probably be another woman in ACIII : something along the lines of "there will be one to accompany you, only she remains to be found".

Oh yeah. And Juno said that she doesn't "see" her in the room with Desmond. And for some reason, killing Lucy would set Desmond on the right path. I still miss her though haha. If Eve (that's what I'm gonna call her now, because she's Eve's descendant) isn't as amazing as Lucy, I'm gonna be MADBRO.

I hope that whoever or whatever Eve is, they are not supposed to be Desmond's love interest. Desmond should either die for the Assassins, or totally leave his life behind to lead them.

IMO.

Yeah. Both Altair and Ezio have said on at least one occasion that Love is what brings the Assassins true strength. Altair's sons: "They will not grow up away from family like I did, but rather in a household full of love." Even Ezio in Embers says that Love is what gives the Order its power. I'm just saying haha.

Exactly. Desmond must either find a new love in "Eve" or reconnect with his father. One or both of those will have to happen.

I think he's reconnecting with his father either way, honestly. The reason for that is that in Revelations he clearly says he regrets not listening to his family, he regrets thinking they were just a bunch of hippies. Regret. Even Subject 16 asks him, if he feels regret for anything. I think Desmond himself really wants to give his dad another chance now that his eyes have been opened to the Truth.

One other annoying thing is that Revelations told us nothing at all about "Eve", Vidic doesn't appear in the single player at all (just like he didn't in Brotherhood), and we didn't see much of the real world until the ending, where we're given a 5 second peek of it. Not much exposure on Desmond's father. All of these things are giant cliffhangers that can only be answered in ACIII at this point. Grrrr. Also, Subject 16 was kind of anti-climactic for me. He did save Desmond but I mean.. come on. Ubisoft is killing off SO many characters:

Altair
Ezio
Lucy
Subject 16

This means that the next game HAS to be absolutely BONKERS with regards to new characters, plot exposition and so on. Makes the wait just that tiny bit harder haha.

Some people are saying that Lucy will be back in Assassin's Creed III. I don't know whether to believe that. I'm going to assume she's not coming back because giving myself false hope would be the worst thing.

No. She didn't die while using the animus nor did she go crazy like subject 16 so no. We'll probably get a flash back.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

Alright. Now that I've fully finished the single player story to date (with DLCs), I can start reading and weighing in on these "spoiler" topics.

I have a question about Lucy and am wondering what the consensus is. I will put it in spoiler tags, because the info I am going to reference is in the Lost Archive DLC. If you don't want to purchase the DLC, here's a playthrough of it I found on youtube (with no annoying commentary from the maker of the video).

Spoiler: Highlight to view

Here's my question about Lucy.

1. Was she a Templar all along? A triple agent so to speak? A Templar working as an Assassin working as a Templar?

-- or --

2. Once in Abstergo, was she turned from Assassin to Templar (via brainwashing or whatever Abstergo's means are)?

I prefer #2, as she was a good character. But I don't know if this is directly answered by Ubisoft at all/yet.

Thoughts?

She was an Assassin turned Templar. Vidic kind of brainwashed her. She was going back to the Assassins to lead the Templars to the Assassin base.

It makes me wonder what Lucy was really thinking in this cutscene. She was already on the Templars' side at the time, but hiding it so well she didn't need to do anything more to convince Desmond/Shaun/Rebecca that she was an Assassin. Is she just weary of being a double agent, that the Templars are not winning fast enough ?

I think she actually loves Desmond at that point. That's just me. Her face when she looks at him is always filled with regret. Desmond's role as a scapegoat or sacrificial lamb of sorts is constantly hitting Lucy in the face throughout the Assassin's Creed storyline. It wakes her up, makes her question if what she's doing to the Assassins is really the right thing.

I think she should've stuck around for AC3. And I agree with the tumblr post that making the Assassin leader Desmond's father was kind of cliched. Same goes for killing the love interest/best friend only to find out they're not who they seem. Ubisoft kinda screwed themselves there.

Meh. I didn't mind.

Not everything has to hit you in the face and wonder what the hell is going on.

Why can't things make sense once in a while?
1 - Lucy and Desmond grew up on the Farm.
2 - Desmond's dad was one of the leaders on the Farm. (He made decisions about Lucy and Desmond's futures at least).
3 - Most of the Assassin cells were discovered by the Templars. The Farm was deserted when the Templars got there (AC1).

So why would it NOT make sense for Desmond's daddy to be the de facto head of the Assassins, especially only a few hundred miles of his home, when most or all other Assassin cells were discovered?

Since Darth Vader said "I am your father", a lot of movies and games have adopted that plot device. It seems like every character has a relative that plays a huge part in every story line. Usually it's a parent and sometimes it's a brother. I find it hard to take things as seriously when they use that. If they can make it really make sense instead of just saying "The main character's dad just HAPPENS to be the leader of an international brotherhood of killers", then I'll be okay with it. Maybe it could be another Assassin's father that was killed during the Abstergo raid in AC1. Something original would be nice.

Hopefully Corey May coming back for AC3 will help me accept it. It's just a personal preference. I'm not a fan of repeated plot devices.

How many original plots are there? 3? 7? 40? ... depends on who you ask...

I mean, wasn't the whole "I am your father" thing done already by Socrates in Oedipus Rex?

According to 'The Dangerous Book For Boys', there are approximately seven major storylines/plot devices that, either on their own or combined with one another, make up pretty much every story ever.

We can still be original. The only things AC had before were the devices of: main character has to save the world and best friend dies dramatically. ACR was kind of a big example of cliches, but that should best be left forgotten.

I think what he's saying is that Desmond had to get the high concentration of TWCB DNA from his parents... one of which is his dad.

If Desmond truly is the Chosen One he must have significantly more TWCB DNA than other Assassins. The best way to get this is for both his parents to ALSO have disproportionately high levels of TWCB DNA.
