**please please PLEASE avoid Rogue and/or Unity plot twists in this discussion.**

I'm sure I'm missing some from the middle games. I just don't remember any really in the Ezio games...

For me, the biggest plot twist/reveal what when Haytham reveals that you've been playing as a Templar for the whole game so far. It was incredible and the devs did a GREAT job keeping that one under wraps.

Yep! That's the one I was going to say. As I recall, you actually hear Desmond's voice saying, "Wait. What?" My sentiments exactly.

You won't even feel the blade.

Haytham's was a good surprise, but I give it to Al Mualim.

He was the leader and mentor of the entire Assassin order. He was the embodiment of everything you believe in. His wisdom has been guiding you the entire game, making you a better Assassin and a better man. Then, through a series of events, you learn that your father figure has lied to you your entire life and has betrayed everything you stand for. Then he tries to kill you.

That's a big bag of emotions right there, one that is difficult to replicate. Haytham's reveal was a big surprise, but ultimately it didn't change anything. Al Mualim's betrayal changed everything.

I'll go with Haytham. It came as a total surprise to me. I remember staring at my screen in complete disbelief. "But.. but he was a good guy..."

"...and if I had no self-awareness, I think I'd know."

"The rest is up to you, Desmond."

It may not be the best, but it's my fave and the one where my jaw dropped to the floor. The story got way bigger than just stopping Abstergo from obtaining a dangerous artifact.

I'll have to agree, this moment was my biggest "what the hell" moment. Followed by the Haytham moment.

See.. I knew I was forgetting some big ones. Added it as an option.

Yup, me too. This was the point at which Assassin's Creed became so much bigger than I could have dreamed. I like plot twists like these because they don't just alter the plot, they straight-up revealed a massive, third Layer of the Three Layers I like to refer to so much.

(Modern Day, History, First Civilization - just like Parkour, Combat and Stealth, AC is not AC without all three.)

Liberation was a fantastic game -- certainly better than some other "main games" -- and it didn't have a (real) modern day... (there were, however, messages and memories from Erudito).
