Also, the Agent 47 movie doesn't look terrible. Thoughts on that?

It LOOKS alright. The visual aspect seems a-okay.

From the reviews I've read though (haven't seen the movie myself), it's not great. People say it works very well as a game, but the movie adaptation fails because the main character is too cold and emotionless.

I really hope the AC movie doesn't fail like so many videogame movies have failed. BTW, someone posted some info on Reddit about one of the sets, which was next to his apartment. There's some pictures in there, check it out if you're interested.

That looks pretty sweet. Just hope they don't screw up the plot.

Here are some good points on what makes a good game based movie.

Under the Assassin's Creed Rewards Ubisoft has a activity called "Check out the first image from the Assassin's Creed film!". When I click on the link it takes me to this Yahoo article about the film. There's no image. FLAE's eye roll

The text confirms some of the things from the last article DAZ linked. Fassbender will play Callum Lynch (not Michael Lynch) and a 15th century Spanish ancestor named Aguilar. Other supporting cast members are named. Filming began on August 31, 2015 in Malta, London, and Spain.

I'm so glad that they are going outside the set AC game stories.

Ideally, they skip the Animus interface all together... just a guy that has bizarre dreams and looks to the past/future that help explain his current situation. Otherwise people may see it simply as a Matrix ripoff of alternate reality grounded in something else... actually, that may not be a bad way to play it to the mass public.. if they are going to try to go for the general public anyway.

Naw. Stay true to your lore. Stay true to your story. Have some spine for once since AC3.
This film confirms Abstergo has a presence, so the Animus is going to have a role because that's kind of their biggest thing. The mere presence of... Er... PRESENT day also more or less solidifies that. This makes certain individuals very, very happy. I like to believe that the masses are not nearly as stupid as we'd like them to be. After all, they're made up of people just like us. Even if it is similar to the Matrix, cyberpunk rarely penetrates into the mainstream, and it's about damn time we got something serious since The Matrix/Blade Runner.

It could just be a film presented by Abstergo Entertainment, for all we know. Wink

I just don't know how much background they can put into the Animus tech story to properly do it. I wonder if a sort of Memento style movie might work - one where the audience and characters are given bits of information to put together themselves unmasking something... something like the present day files from Helix Glitches in Syndicate, that you slowly unlock and put together until there's something at the end as a payoff.

Whats wrong with just disregarding the game period? The real history of the Assassins is intriguing enough. I'm sure Hollywood can fill in the holes with enough falsity to make it a good movie like they do with every other historical movie (ie 300). Just the real myth of scaring the shit outta Saladin is enough for a great movie, lol. Considering noone but us die hard assassin fans know anything anyway will make it B rated at best. As long as they give the assassins the same skills as ninjas ppl will enjoy it.

Here's to you as good as you are. Here's to me as bad as I am. As bad as I am, and as good as you are, I'm as good as you are, as bad as I am.

Apparently there are already plans for a sequel to the AC movie. (Source here)

I've never heard of The Tracking Board, is it a credible source? This news seems weird to me, why would they bother putting effort into planning a sequel already? I imagine they would wait to see how the first one is received, right?
